On the night of 14–15 June 2026, a Russian Shahed drone struck the
Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. It hit the Dormition Cathedral, the heart of a monastery founded
in 1051. Around 800 square metres of roof burned. Ukraine’s security service recovered the drone’s fuselage and engine at the impact
point. Russia called it a stray Patriot missile. The wreckage says otherwise. This was a
direct hit.
This is a spatial archive of that strike. Each photograph is pinned to the exact place
it was taken, inside a 3D capture of the cathedral. In time it will reach beyond one
night — to the deeper history of this place, and of a cathedral lost and rebuilt across a
century of destruction.
